"My time spent in Port Stephens was absolutely fantastic. The stunning coastline, beautiful beaches and crystal clear water made it an absolute photographers paradise. The diving off Port Stephens and the surrounding marine park was first class, with an abundance of marine life. While snorkelling and diving in the Port Stephens area you’ll have the chance of seeing Bottlenose Dolphins, Fur Seals, friendly Grey Nurse Sharks and a plethora of colourful fish life. Exploring the surrounding National Parks is a must, especially Mt Tomaree, which treats you to spectacular panoramic views of Port Stephens once you reach the summit. Exploring the Stockton sand dunes and learning about the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the area gives you such an appreciation for this incredible region. I can’t wait to visit Port Stephens again soon and I highly recommend it to everyone.”

Trip Highlights

Itinerary

Day 1
Day 1: Soldiers Point
Welcome to 'Incredible by Nature' Port Stephens! Check in to your luxurious accommodation and enjoy the stunning outlooks across the peninsula from your ocean room with balcony. It is time for a little adventure. Join the 4WD Tours R Us team and go sandboarding on the largest moving sand mass in the southern hemisphere. You also have the option to discover Port Stephens' lost town with a thrilling “Tin City" tour.
Activities
INCLUDED
Check in at Bannisters Port Stephens
Located in Soldiers Point, check in at your stylish boutique getaway, recalling the sunny day holiday vibes of the sixties and seventies. Bannisters has preserved the bones of an iconic retro motel and built in its place a vibrant four-star hotel experience in a classic destination. Surrounded by water, koala habitat and a sense of peace and seclusion from hotel to horizon, your room is ocean fronting and situated across the top two levels of the property.
INCLUDED
Sandboarding Adventure
Sandboarding is an absolute must do in Port Stephens. Board a custom-built off-road vehicle for the short, bouncy ride into the largest moving sand mass in the southern hemisphere, and a place of cultural significance to the Worimi Aboriginal people. The dunes stretch 32 kilometres! The views alone are spectacular. Once in the dunes, you will get a hand made custom design board for maximum speed (and safety) to climb to the top of the dunes. Jump on your sandboard, slide down, and repeat! This is also a great opportunity to capture some photos of this beautiful sandscape that is forever changing.
OPTIONAL
Tin City 4WD Tour
Discover Port Stephens lost town “Tin City" on this 2-hour 4WD tour into the Stockton Sand Dunes. Once you arrive at Tin City, you will learn about the history surrounding the lost shacks, how it was once used for shipwrecked sailors and as a bombing rage. This tour is dependent on the tide, please chat to us if you would like to include Tin City in your Port Stephens adventure.
INCLUDED
Ocean Deck at Bannisters Port Stephens
Ocean-fronting and situated across the top two levels of the property, your Ocean Deck room provides stunning outlooks across the peninsula from your balcony. Daily continental breakfast included. Bannisters is also where barefoot luxury and world-beating scenery meet Rick Stein’s passion for traditional and modern seafood. Rick Stein at Bannisters is deeply connected to Rick and Sarah Stein’s natural affinity with our unique Australian coastline.
Day 2
Day 2: Nelson Bay
Set your alarm this morning. We promise it will be worth it! You are heading out to Jordan's favourite place —the blue ocean— for a swim with wild dolphins. The experienced Dolphin Swim Australia team will guide you on this magical tour this morning. This will be an experience you will never forget.
Activities
INCLUDED
Boxed Breakfast
As you have to get up early for your Wild Dolphin Swim wetsuit fitting, we will arrange a boxed breakfast for you with Bannisters Port Stephens.
INCLUDED
Wild Dolphin Swim
This is the only permitted wild dolphin swim in New South Wales, the first swim of its kind in the world! Come and be a part of the pod and witness TRUE dolphin behaviour. Six swim guests at a time are attached to a customised rope which is strung between the two bows of a 54' (16m) catamaran and towed through the water while inquisitive wild dolphins dart back and forth between the bows and often within a couple of metres of the guests. Truly an experience of a lifetime! Customised video included.
OPTIONAL
Brunch at The Little Nel
You might feel like a second breakfast this morning, after your dolphin swim. And what better meal is there than a brunch? We recommend The Little Nel, a charming cafe that has grown into the favourite haunt for Bay locals.
Day 3
Day 3: Shoal Bay
On your last day in Port Stephens, we recommend to rise early again and head to Zenith Beach to witness a spectacular sunrise. Head back to Bannisters Port Stephens to enjoy your continental breakfast. If you can't get enough of the region, we recommend the Tomaree Head Summit walk. A hike with magnificent photographic opportunities and panoramic views of Port Stephens and the north coast.

OPTIONAL
Sunrise at Zenith Beach
Wake up early today — it will be worth it! One of Jordan's top photography tips is to capture sunrise in Port Stephens. Zenith Beach is located between two headlands and is pristine at any time of the day. Sunrise here is something special though. We will let Jordan's photo speak for itself.
INCLUDED
Continental Breakfast
Start your day right and enjoy a continental breakfast at Bannisters Port Stephens. Perhaps you feel like getting it delivered to your room?
OPTIONAL
Tomaree Head Summit walk
If you can't get enough of the region (we understand!), why not conclude your Port Stephens experience with a literal highlight experience. Watch picture perfect landscapes as you hike the track 161m above the Port Stephens entrance. You will enjoy panoramic views of picturesque Port Stephens and the coastline. From the top, you can even see as far as Cabbage Tree and Boondelbah islands – these nature reserves are the world’s only nesting sites for the endangered Gould's petrel.
