Trip Highlights

Itinerary

Day 1
Day 1 - Waitomo
Leave all you stress at the gate as you wind your way up to Waitomo Glamping. The glamp's safari tent is located on top of a hill with expansive views in every direction. Enjoy the views of farmland and wildlife whilst creating a culinary masterpiece in the pizza oven, gathering around the outdoor fire, or perhaps taking a dip in the outdoor baths.
Activities
OPTIONAL
Car hire
Optional car hire from Auckland or Hamilton.
INCLUDED
Waitomo Glamping - 3 Nights
Escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life without compromise on comfort or luxury. Seek refuge in the countryside where a remote, peaceful and intimate hideaway awaits. Unplug from phones and computers, and instead toast marshmallows over the crackling fire, play a board game, read stories by lantern light, or simply relax and enjoy the outstanding panoramic views of New Zealand farmland.
Day 2
Day 2 - Waitomo
Wake up high above this 700-hectare family owned farm. Today you'll enjoy one of the most iconic adventures NZ has to offer, a journey deep into a magical world. Join a family owned and operated business, as they will take you on an incredible private tour into the caves. You will have plenty of opportunity to try your luck at photographing the awe-inspiring glow worms.

Lost World All Day Adventure
Described by the Lonely Planet Guide as "one of the best things you can do in this country." Make sure you eat your lunch (provided) because you’re going to spend the rest of the day walking, wading and swimming through the cavernous passages of this famous underground system. Generally the ceiling is about 50-80m above you - this cave is big. Yes you need to be moderately fit (e.g. go bush walking for a day), but the trip is intended for complete novices. No prior experience required – just a penchant for adventure!
INCLUDED
Glow Worm Cave Photography Tour
Join this private guided tour through beautiful untouched New Zealand scenery both inside and outside of the glow worm caves. There are many incredible photo opportunities including beautiful glow worm displays, stunning limestone formations, and light filtering through pristine New Zealand native bush. The cave system on our farm is one of only two in the Waitomo district that is classified by New Zealand’s Department of Conservation as being of “International Significance”. It is completely untouched!
FREE OPTION
Ruakuri Walk
This amazing loop track includes forested gorge, natural sculpted cliffs and low limestone arches. The highlight of the Ruakuri Walk is the Ruakuri Natural Tunnel, a spectacular high-ceiling cave which has the Waitomo stream flowing into it. The entrance and viewing platform takes you just inside the cave where you can view large stalactites and stalagmites. Glowworms also illuminate the banks of the track at night.
Day 3
Day 3 - Waitomo
Today is all about exploring. Waitomo is famous for caving, but not many people realise it has some incredible natural bridges, waterfalls and even a hot water beach. Starting the day you'll make your way around to see the impressive natural bridge and falls, before continuing around to one of New Zealand's best kept secrets, Kawhia Hot Water Beach. To finish your day you'll have the option of a full-body massage.

Kawhia Hot Water Beach
One of the Waikato’s, and indeed New Zealand’s, best kept secrets is Kawhia Hot Water Beach. Head down to Ocean Beach in Kawhia at low tide, clamber over the sand dunes and stroll down onto the beach. Find your spot and start digging for an instant natural hot water spa, with stunning views to match.
FREE OPTION
Marokopa Falls & The Natural Bridge
Visitors to Waitomo Caves are usually blissfully unaware that just a little bit further down the road are two amazing natural sights - the Mangapohue Natural Bridge and Marokopa Falls. The bridge is a super unusual structure - a natural rock arch that's 17 metres high over the stream and an easy 10 minute walk. Carry on a wee bit further and you'll come to one the best waterfalls in NZ - the 35 metre high mighty Marokopa Falls. Unlike other waterfalls that can be a little underwhelming without rainfall, Marokopa is impressive all year round and very easy to get to down a short walking track.
OPTIONAL
Full Body Therapeutic Massage
From your neck to your toes, your stress will literally melt away with this indulgent treatment. The massage therapist uses haumanu massage balm, which is made locally using native kawakawa extracts. Haumanu balm is proven to assist in relieving pain, aches and inflammation. The massage combines the balm with Swedish massage techniques in order to relax the body, improve circulation, eliminate toxins and leave you feeling revitalized and de-stressed.
Day 4
Day 4 - Waitomo
On the last day of your trip we recommend visiting Waitanguru Falls before you venture home.

Waitanguru Falls
This is another spot that's fairly off the beaten track - a good 23km on a windy country road from Pio Pio. That being said, the drive is so lovely as it's very much Middle-earth countryside through here, in fact you'll even pass Hairy Feet - a Hobbit movie location along the way. The drive in is so amazing AND that you're likely to have the place to yourself while you're there makes it very worth the visit.
