“This is a story of our changing planet, and what we can do to help it thrive…”
Sir David Attenborough
At Airguides, we believe that travel has the power to bring positive change, both for ourselves and for the people and places we visit. We strive to create exceptional experiences that have a positive impact on local communities and the environment, and we achieve this by implementing guidelines for each of our trips.
We only partner with storytellers and tourism businesses that share our values, ensuring that our commitment to sustainability is supported at every stage of the journey. Our approach to sustainability is holistic, encompassing not just our balance sheet but also the impact we have on the environment, society, economy, and governance/ethics.
Aligned with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, we have identified seven SDGs that best align with our business focus areas. By focusing on these goals, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable future for all.
Gender equality is one of the goals we focus on, recognising the role that tourism can play in empowering women through job creation and income-generating opportunities. We also focus on decent work and economic growth, acknowledging that tourism is one of the driving forces of global economic growth and a significant source of employment worldwide.
We are committed to sustainable cities and communities, recognising that a city that is not good for its citizens is not good for travellers. We also prioritise climate action, recognising that tourism stakeholders must play a leading role in the global response to climate change.
In addition, we aim to contribute to the protection of life below water and life on land, recognising the importance of healthy oceans, seas, reefs, and marine areas, as well as biodiverse areas such as national parks, forests, and mountain regions.
Finally, we recognise the importance of partnerships for the goals, and we work with stakeholders from different sectors to achieve the SDGs and other common goals.
At Airguides, we are committed to taking action on climate change, and we are proud to have signed the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. This declaration recognises the critical role that tourism plays in the global response to climate change and calls for urgent action to reduce carbon emissions, promote sustainable practices, and protect natural and cultural heritage.
As a signatory of this declaration, we are committed to working collaboratively with other tourism stakeholders to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. We recognise that our industry has a responsibility to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and local communities.
We are proud to be part of a growing movement of tourism businesses committed to taking action on climate change and contributing to a more sustainable future.
Sustainable travel is at the core of our story, and we are committed to scaling our positive impact as we grow Airguides and our team. We aim to contribute to a more sustainable travel industry, one that balances purpose and profit and creates positive change for all.
