Meet

Jono Allen

With a camera in one hand and a passion for conservation in the other, Jono lives and breathes the wonders of the deep blue. Not your average marine megafauna guide, he's also an award-winning underwater photographer, environmental scientist, and cinematographer.

Over the past decade, Jono Allen has devoted himself entirely to seeking out extraordinary wildlife encounters in some of the wildest places on the planet. Driven by his unwavering passion for connection, Jono firmly believes that the key to a life-changing experience is forging an authentic bond with the creatures that roam this earth. To him, it's not just about ticking a box or checking off a list - it's about immersing yourself in the moment and experiencing the magic of a close and personal encounter.

Whether he's swimming with whales or capturing moments between animals, Jono's adventures are driven by an insatiable desire to uncover the secrets of the natural world and bring them to light. Through his lens, he captures not just the majesty of wildlife, but their unique personalities and relationships with one another. He's got a real talent for it, reminding us that the infinite wisdom of nature is always there for us to learn from.

One defining moment for Jono was rescuing an entangled whale shark in the Maldives. This spurred him into co-founding the Fuvahmulah Marine Foundation, an initiative tackling plastic pollution and marine life entanglement. Jono also serves as the Media Director for the Miyaru Programme, an organisation focused on shark conservation.

Got fins? Jono's your go-to for epic ocean expeditions, whether you're a free-diving newbie or a scuba pro seeking your next underwater adventure. Above and below water, Jono's mission is simple but profound: connect humans to the ocean's beauty and its urgent need for protection.

"When I'm not freediving or editing, I'm usually trying to figure out ways to photograph the many amazing wildlife species I'm yet to lay my lens on. Be that great whites, orcas, blue whales, sea lions all the way to crazy things such as walrus, belugas, and polar bears! My brain likes to run wild trying to figure out ways to meet these incredible animals.”

Why We Love

Jono Allen

Jono Allen
"I've had my fair share of special encounters with wildlife growing up. For me, I've just always felt that nature was the real world, I felt that way as a kid and I still feel it today. Being in a big city or in a shopping mall feels much more alien to me than being anywhere in nature. I've been blessed with a strong connection to the natural world since a kid, and I don't think any other lifestyle was ever going to be a choice really."
