And dive deeper into the scientific world of sharks with shark scientist Arzucan "Zuzu" Askin. Learn how to photo-ID the sharks you encounter and interpret their behaviours, making your underwater encounters even more meaningful.
Dive in, capture the magic, and champion our ocean's preservation.
Jono is a professional wildlife photographer, marine environmental scientist and freediver. A passionate ocean advocate, he is the Director of Ocean Culture Life and Co-Founder of Fuvahmulah Marine Foundation. Wether it be leading encounters with humpback whales in Tonga or apex sharks in the Maldives, Jono’s experiences are guided by one motivation, to facilitate unique connections with wildlife. To provide travellers the opportunity to exchange eye contact, and experience that once in a lifetime moment of silent face-to-face dialogue with the giants of the sea.
Known as "Zuzu" among locals on the island, Arzucan is a marine conservation scientist, technical diver and sailor based at the University of Oxford. Her passion for our world's sharks reflects in her work as Director of the Miyaru Fuvahmulah Shark Research Programme. A Fellow of the RGS-IBG she has led multiple research projects and remote marine expeditions examining the complexity of human ocean relationships across the globe. Supported by Rolex, she recently spent a year advancing her technical diving abilities to conduct deeper exploration projects underwater.

"Swimming with tiger sharks, I learned that fear is often a product of misunderstanding, and that these majestic predators play a vital role in the ocean's delicate balance."
“Thanking the stars I found Airguides and Jono's trip. We were totally taken care of! Paul answered all our questions and took care of the details so all we had to do was get there. Jono Allen is an amazing, talented photographer who created a special group experience. The WHALES were mind blowing. What a gift to be in Tonga staring into the eye of a baby whale! This trip was a lifelong dream come true. I highly recommend it so much we’ve already signed up again for next year!"
"The Airguides trip to Tonga to swim with humpback whales was the experience of a lifetime. I have traveled all over the world, and nothing compares to being in the wild, rustic, deep blue waters of the South Pacific while interacting with whales and their calves. A wonderful and caring team made our adventures stress free. Absolutely amazing, so much so, that I am doing it again this year! Thanks a million Paul, Jono, Al, Alistair, Christian and Polly!"
"Thank you for your help in putting together our trip to the Northern Territory. Everyone agreed that it was the best family holiday we'd ever had and - even better - everyone nominated something different as 'the best thing'."
